Sharjah 24 – WAM: Arab Woman Awards has announced that it's 2016 edition will honour Nora Jamal Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of Cancer Patient Care Society (Rahma) in recognition of her noble humanitarian and charitable work, volunteering and providing a helping hand to the needy and the sick.
She was honoured for her efforts in managing Rahma in accordance with the directions of Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research and Chairman of Rahma.
The Arab Woman Awards was launched in 2009 with the aim to raise public awareness of the significant achievements made by Arab women and to provide young women with inspirational role models. Winners are selected by a board of judges comprising prominent personalities who play an important role in supporting women-related activities in various fields.
Al-Suwaidi is a prominent figure in the field of charitable and humanitarian work in the UAE. Her impressive work has come to light in Abu Dhabi emirate since April 2015. Accordingly, the Cancer Patient Care Society was established, taking upon itself since day one the task of caring for cancer patients by providing them support in the face of this malignant disease through various steps and measures.
Al-Suwaidi has promoted the work of Rahma in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, regionally and internationally by signing agreements and memoranda of understanding; paying field visits to patients and there relatives in hospitals and health centers; organising and participating in events and campaigns to raise awareness about different types of cancer; holding conferences about the disease in cooperation with medical consultants and specialists in the field of health, education and academic work; providing all forms of communication in order to offer services and information to appropriate treatment centers; and communicating with other charities as well as coordinating community activities with them.
